NPA~Marine is pleased to announce the second delivery of the HarbourKeepers & CoastKeepers Statement of Attainment in Marine and Coastal Conservation. The course will be run during the spring semester 2007 from the Northern Beaches Institute of TAFE located in Brookvale.

Through a combination of classroom theory and outdoor practical work students will learn about:

  • Natural environments of the coastal zone
  • The link between healthy land and healthy marine environments
  • The impact of human activity on aquatic environments
  • Plant and animal identification
  • Restoring and looking after natural areas
  • How to work responsibly in a natural area

There is a strong emphasis on field trips and outdoor practical work during this course. Students will learn about marine and coastal ecology and impacts on several field trips including to Narrabeen Lagoon and Long Reef. You will also take part in practical bush regeneration and tree planting events.

There are two streams to the course; Coastal Stream and Marine Stream. Students studying the Marine Stream will be able to include HarbourKeepers & CoastKeepers Fish Survey training as part of their course provided they meet diver prerequisites. Read more about Fish Survey training here.
