Fish Survey @ Bondi - Sun 1st
A
group of volunteer divers undertake bi-monthly fish surveys at North Bondi
as part of CoastKeepers @ Bondi. Participation is open to any diver who
has completed the HarbourKeepers and CoastKeepers Fish Survey course.
Through these regular dives a picture of the frequency, distribution and
seasonal variation of 50 key marine fish species at north Bondi will be
built.
Data collected from the Bondi Fish Surveys is forwarded to BioNet - the
NSW government's online biodiversity database, Project AWARE for inclusion
in a global fish survey initiative, Waverley Council and the Bondi Marine
Discovery Centre.
The CoastKeepers @ Bondi Fish Survey "hub" is the first of
many CoastKeepers Fish Survey groups to be trained on the NSW coast. Click
here to register if you would like to get involved. If you belong to a
dive club or can organise a group of divers through a dive shop or other

Underwater and Land-based Clean Up - Illawong Bay
Sun 22nd
CoastKeepers
are conducting an underwater and land-based clean up at Illawong Bay in
the Ku-ring-gai National Park. This event is at the request of the National
Parks and Wildlife Service and will relieve pressure on the aquatic environment
of the bay by removing pollutants and allowing natural processes to proceed.
Our divers will remove rubbish, debris and fishing line from around the
perimeter of Illawong Bay. At the same time teams of land-based volunteers
will clean up around the foreshore. This is a registered Dive in to Earth
event. Contact Dave at info@coastkeepers.org.au for more info or to request
a place.
This project is supported by Envirofund.
