This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to contribute to the restoration of this beautiful part of the NSW coast. No previous experience is required as training will be given on the day, so come along and gain some new skills while making new friends.

Work starts at 8 am and finishes at 11 am. You should bring morning tea, plenty of drinking water, protective clothing, sturdy shoes, sunscreen, insect repellent and a hat. The meeting place changes every week so contact us in advance to book a place and ensure that you have the correct meeting location. Contact Dave at daver@marine.org.au

Fish Survey @ Bondi - Sun 1st

A group of volunteer divers undertake bi-monthly fish surveys at North Bondi as part of CoastKeepers @ Bondi. Participation is open to any diver who has completed the HarbourKeepers and CoastKeepers Fish Survey course. Through these regular dives a picture of the frequency, distribution and seasonal variation of 50 key marine fish species at north Bondi will be built.

Data collected from the Bondi Fish Surveys is forwarded to BioNet - the NSW government's online biodiversity database, Project AWARE for inclusion in a global fish survey initiative, Waverley Council and the Bondi Marine Discovery Centre.

The CoastKeepers @ Bondi Fish Survey "hub" is the first of many CoastKeepers Fish Survey groups to be trained on the NSW coast. Click here to register if you would like to get involved. If you belong to a dive club or can organise a group of divers through a dive shop or other organisation and you would like to set up a Fish Survey hub in your area please contact Dave at daver@marine.org.au

Please check out our Fish Survey pages for more information on the surveys.

This project is supported by Envirofund.

Underwater and Land-based Clean Up - Illawong Bay
Sun 22nd

CoastKeepers are conducting an underwater and land-based clean up at Illawong Bay in the Ku-ring-gai National Park. This event is at the request of the National Parks and Wildlife Service and will relieve pressure on the aquatic environment of the bay by removing pollutants and allowing natural processes to proceed.

Our divers will remove rubbish, debris and fishing line from around the perimeter of Illawong Bay. At the same time teams of land-based volunteers will clean up around the foreshore. This is a registered Dive in to Earth event. Contact Dave at info@coastkeepers.org.au for more info or to request a place.

This project is supported by Envirofund.

Bush Regeneration - Crowdy Bay National Park - Sun 29th

The mid north coast branch of the National Parks Association are holding a day of bush regeneration on Sunday 29th April. Several areas of bushland in Crowdy Bay National Park will be targetted. This is a stunning part of NSW and the day is an excellent opportunity for volunteers to meet other people interested in conservation, as well as gaining some awesome experience and knowledge.

No experience is necessary, as all volunteers can be trained on the day - so get out there and get your hands dirty! Beautiful bushland and a load of friendly faces await you - new volunteers are always welcome.

Work will start at 8.45 am at Diamond Head Camping Ground and finish at 3pm, when all volunteers will meet for afternoon tea. You should bring morning tea, lunch, sunscreen, insect repellant, drinking water, sturdy shoes and a hat. Afternoon tea, gloves & tools will be provided.
