CoastKeepers @ Bondi Diver Training

CoastKeepers @ Bondi Diver Training

15 volunteers will be trained by CoastKeepersto undertake the survey with 10 of these divers participating each month.

Through this training and its associated dives they will acquire Project AWARE - Fish Identification Certification which qualifies them to identify and record fish species found in Sydney Harbour and NSW waters.

Participants in this project include marine biologists, underwater filmmakers, and key local environmentalists.

This CoastKeepers @ Bondi "hub" is one of the first of many CK hubs to be trained up along the coast.

These 15 divers have been selected and have completed their initial training. This is a closed dive group that will be collecting biodiversity data for specific sites in and around Bondi.

The data collected will be provided to Waverley Council, to the Bondi Marine Discovery Centre and also to the statewide online database BioNet.

This project is supported by Coastcare and Hanson.

Please check out our Fish Survey pages for more information on the surveys!
