Fish Survey Training @ Port Stephens
- Fri 12th & Sat 13th
Divers from the Charlestown Diving Academy will complete
training this weekend to be able to participate in HarbourKeepers and
CoastKeepers survey of NSW marine fish. The Fish Survey is a statewide
survey of the frequency and distribution of 50 marine fish species. Data
is forwarded to BioNet, Project AWARE and other agencies to inform marine
management decisions and identify trends in marine pressures.
Training consists of a 3 hour fish identification workshop
and two training dives. Divers who successfully complete training are
able to incorporate Fish Surveys into their normal dive activities and
join organised Fish Survey events. Successful completion of the HarbourKeepers
& CoastKeepers Fish Survey course also results in PADI certification
as a Project AWARE Fish Identification speciality diver.
