The Mid North Coast Branch of National Parks Association complete bush regeneration work every Monday morning at Gogleys Lagoon and Trevors Corner in Dunbogan, a short drive south of Port Macquarie.

This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to contribute to the restoration of this beautiful part of the NSW coast. No previous experience is required as training will be given on the day, so come along and gain some new skills while making new friends.

Work starts at 8 am and finishes at 11 am. You should bring morning tea, plenty of drinking water, protective clothing, sturdy shoes, sunscreen, insect repellent and a hat. The meeting place changes every week so contact us in advance to book a place and ensure that you have the correct meeting location. Contact Dave at daver@marine.org.au

Fish Survey @ Manly - Sun 2nd

A group of volunteer divers undertake bi-monthly fish surveys at sites around the Manly area as part of CoastKeepers @ Manly. Participation is open to any diver who has completed the HarbourKeepers and CoastKeepers Fish Survey course. Through these regular dives a picture of the frequency, distribution and seasonal variation of 50 key marine fish species in the Manly area will be built.

Data collected from the Fish Surveys @ Manly is forwarded to BioNet - the NSW government's online biodiversity database, Project AWARE for inclusion in a global fish survey initiative and the Manly Environment Centre.

This project is supported by Envirofund.

Jervis Bay Dive Club Fish Survey - Sat 8th & Wed 26th

Divers from the Jervis Bay Dive Club will complete Fish Surveys on the second Saturday and last Wednesday of each month.

Club members have frequently participated in marine research programs inside the Jervis Bay Marine Park and have extensive knowledge of the Fish Survey target species.

CoastKeepers will forward data gathered by the Jervis Bay Dive Club surveyors to BioNet, Project AWARE and the Jervis Bay Marine Park Authority to inform marine management decisions.

The Jervis Bay Dive Club is the first CoastKeepers Fish Survey hub outside of the Sydney region. This year several Fish Survey hubs will be established along the NSW coast. Contact Dave if you are interested in getting your dive club invovled info@coastkeepers.org.au

This project is supported by Envirofund.

Underwater Clean Up - Illawong Bay - Sun 16th

A call for divers keen to help clean up this popular fishing spot at Illawong Bay in the Ku-ring-gai-chase National Park, north Sydney.

After 2 clean ups here involving 20 divers and 20 dive hours we have yet to scratch the surface of the mounds of discarded fishing tackle in the water. And this is deep inside one of Sydney's most beautiful national parks.

Divers will work to remove debris including a maze of discarded fishing line and fishing tackle. No prior experience is required though divers should have a minimum of 20 logged dives and have dived in the last 6 months. Contact Dave for details and to book: info@coastkeepers.org.au

This project is supported by Envirofund.

Eco Divers Fish Survey Training - Northern Beaches
Workshop Tues 18th / Dives Thurs 20th

Eco Divers are a new dive group formed by some concerned Northern Beaches divers. Members of Eco Divers are amongst the most active CoastKeepers volunteers having supplied high definition footage and stills for CoastKeepers promotions and participated in a variety of CoastKeepers conservation events. Founding members of Eco Divers include some of the most experienced CoastKeepers Fish Surveyors.

Eco Divers activities include a project to monitor swimming nets and shark nets in the Manly area. Eco Divers will use the CoastKeepers Fish Survey as an element of their Net Monitoring program. This training workshop and dives will equip group members with the skills and knowledge they need to identify and monitor 50 marine fish species found in NSW. Data from these dives will be forwarded to BioNet, Project AWARE and the Manly Environment Centre as well as being used to monitor the impacts of nets.

URG HarbourKeepers Fish Survey - Sun 30th

The Underwater Research Group (URG) will be conducting a Fish Survey dive on Sunday 30th. This 14-19 metre dive will be near Red Indian Fish Wall. Dive with some of Sydney's most knowledgable, experienced and friendly divers and be amazed!

Membership of URG is required for URG boat dives, while all HarbouKeepers & CoastKeepers are welcome on shore dives. For more information about URG go to www.urgdiveclub.org.au

Bush Regeneration at Muogamarra Nature Reserve
Sun 30th

This is a unique opportunity to visit Muogamurra Nature Reserve, an area that is closed to public access for most of the year. You will be working in Peats Crater and Peats Bight, in the northern end of the reserve. These areas originate from volcanic dykes and diatremes and were extensively cleared and grazed in the 1840's. The fertile soils have been invaded by several exotic plant species, which have competed with natives since the last of the cattle were removed in 1974.

Come and be involved in essential bush regeneration activities organised by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service. Travel by boat to Muogamarra Nature Reserve then walk alongside waterways and through healthy bushland to access the sites.

The tools, training and morning tea will be provided, no experience is necessary. Bring plenty of drinking water, sun protection, long sleeves and pants, sturdy shoes and a packed lunch.

To get involved you should first register as a CoastKeeper. Once registered send an email to Dave daver@marine.org.au to book a place on the boat.

Booking is essential to ensure your place on the boat!
